Heineken® Big Top Announcements Before Galway International Arts Festival Programme Launch

12 April 2019

Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh are delighted to announce two more Heineken Big Top headliners before the full 2019 GIAF programme is announced in May. On Sunday 21 July, Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Macy Gray will take to the GIAF19 stage with special guests Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. One week later, chart-topping Irish rock band The Coronas will play a special end of Festival party on Sunday 28 July with support from Le Boom, Ryan McMullan, True Tides and The Clockworks.

American singer-songwriter Macy Gray has been beloved by legions of fans since her triple-platinum debut On How Life Is in 1999. Two decades into her career, she has sold over 25 million albums, sold out venues in every corner of the globe, appeared in several feature films, and collaborated with everyone from Ariana Grande to Galactic. Released last year, her tenth studio-length album, Ruby, is a bold mix of genres and collaborations whilst staying true to Gray’s trademark raspy soulfulness. Special guests on the night - Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - have formed a reputation as one of the best live bands around. Comprised of seven sons of jazz trumpeter, the great Phil Cohran, they’ve performed and collaborated with everyone from Mos Def to Wu Tang Clan to Erykah Badu.

The Coronas return to the Galway International Arts Festival stage this summer for the first time since their sold-out performance at GIAF17 for a very special end of Festival party. One of Ireland’s most popular live acts, they’re known for anthemic ballads, festival appearances, and massive stadium shows. Since bursting on the scene with Heroes or Ghosts in 2007, they’ve achieved platinum sales three times and sold out tours of Ireland, Europe, and Australia. Their July 28 July GIAF performance is one of the first announced dates for their ‘Long Way Home Festival’ tour. They’ll be joined at the Heineken® Big Top by four breakthrough Irish live acts, Le Boom, Ryan McMullan, True Tides and The Clockworks for a very special end of Festival party to round out GIAF19 in style.

Macy Gray with special guests Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will play the Heineken® Big Top on Sunday 21 July 2019. Tickets, priced at €35, are available here.

The Coronas end of Festival party with special guests Le Boom, Ryan McMullan, True Tides and The Clockworks will play the Heineken® Big Top on Sunday 28 July 2019. Tickets, priced at €44.50, are available here.
