Lessness

By Samuel Beckett & Starring Olwen Fouéré
Staged in collaboration with Kellie Hughes and Sarah Jane Shiels

Following the success of the Festival’s co-production with TheEmergencyRoom in association with Cusack Projects Ltd. the team behind Olwen Fouéré’s riverrun reunites on a new co-production of Samuel Beckett’s Lessness.

Here, Fouéré performs Beckett’s evocative short prose, one of the 20th centuries most enigmatic texts, both unpredictable and surprisingly funny. Lessness was published in 1969 the same year Beckett won the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Set in a site-specific environment this work will fuse both theatre and visual arts. Lessness premiered at the Barbican’s Beckett International Season in London in June 2015 as part of a month-long festival, which includes the Sydney Theatre Company’s Waiting For Godot starring Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving, and the American visionary theatre artist Robert Wilson in Krapp’s Last Tape.
