Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh announce first acts for Heineken® Big Top 2024

Today Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh announced the first artists who will be part of the exciting 2024 Heineken® Big Top line up: Block Rockin Beats will perform the world’s biggest dance anthems on Saturday 20th July and acclaimed singer, songwriter Gavin James will take to the stage next summer too on Friday 26th July.

Tickets are now on sale.

The Heineken® Big Top is a much-loved part of the Galway International Arts Festival experience. Nestled beside the banks of the River Corrib, in an easy to reach city centre location, it is a highlight of the festival each year. Audiences each have their own special memories of their favourite artist to play there and a myriad of Irish and International artists have graced the stage each year. Galway takes on a particular energy and excitement during the Galway International Arts Festival.

While the full festival line up will not be announced until next year, tickets for these two concerts at the Heineken® Big Top are now on sale at giaf.ie and the roisindubh.net.

Block Rockin Beats will play the Heineken® Big Top for what promises to be an unmissable performance during this year’s Galway International Arts Festival on Saturday 20 July.

Dec Pierce’s Block Rockin Beats is a performance of the world’s biggest dance anthems, where rave meets rock, featuring a DJ set with a full live band.

A show where both music styles unite for one unmissable performance. Expect songs such as No Good (Start the Dance) alongside Smells Like Teen Spirit and Beastie Boys’ Sabotage. Block Rockin Beats in a raw, energetic, live performance of Dec Pierce’s hugely popular radio show of the same name on Today FM which is fast becoming a live phenomenon.

Commenting on the live show Dec Pierce said, “The show is all about energy, nostalgia and fun. It’s a concert but we want you to lose yourself for a few hours. We want you to go back in time to experience these classic anthems with a full live band and special guests on vocals. It’s a unique music and visual experience."

Gavin James will take to the stage of the Heineken® Big Top on Friday 26th July. Few singer-songwriters are so able to capture the stuff of our intimate lives - love, heartache, loss, joy - like Gavin James. Honing his performing and song writing gifts as a busker and pub performer in Dublin, since being championed by the likes of Ed Sheeran and the release of his early records (including debut studio album, 2016’s Bitter Pill) James has built a community of fans that have seen his music streamed three billion times across the globe and earn diamond and platinum records in multiple countries. He has also sold more than 250 000 tickets (and counting) worldwide with a live show that is as transporting as it is uplifting. In October 2023, James released a new single, White Noise) as a precursor to a new album of original material that he’s recording in a studio on a mountain outside his home city of Dublin.

The full programme for Galway International Arts Festival 2024 will be announced in May.
