Burt Bacharach to play Galway International Arts Festival

Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh are delighted to announce that three-time Academy Award winner, eight-time Grammy award winner and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Burt Bacharach will play the Heineken Big Top at Galway International Arts Festival this summer.

Burt Bacharach revolutionised pop music in the 1950s and 1960s, and a dazzling discography beloved by generations of fans includes 48 Top 10 hits and nine #1 songs. He has collaborated with some of the twentieth century’s biggest stars and his songs have been recorded by legendary artists, including Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Barbra Streisand, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello REM, Diana Krall, the Stranglers, Perry Como, Cher, Barenaked Ladies, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones and Wynonna Judd.

Lauded by Hollywood, Broadway, and just about every institution in the music industry, Mr Bacharach’s eight Grammy Awards include the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award and 1997 Trustees Award with his collaborator Hal David.

Burt Bacharach’s Heineken Big Top concert is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience one of the true greats of popular music perform in the Galway International Arts Festival’s marquee venue.

Burt Bacharach and his band will play the Heineken Big Top on Monday 22 July 2019. Tickets may be purchased here. This will be a fully-seated concert. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Galway International Arts Festival 2019 takes place from 15-28 July 2019, with Orbital (Saturday 27 July), The Academic (Saturday 20 July), Two Door Cinema Club (Friday 26 July) and Bell X1 (Friday 19 July) already announced for the Heineken Big Top. More acts are set to be announced ahead of the full programme release in May.
