In May 2017, Galway International Arts Festival took New York by storm when it opened two productions by eminent Irish playwright and director Enda Walsh. It also partnered with the Irish Consulate to host a US launch and bring its renowned GIAF First Thought Talks series to the U.S. for the first time.
This GIAF First Thought Talk (starting at 24 minutes) with adventurer and solo transatlantic rower Gavan Hennigan discusses Hennigan's extreme adventures to date, in particular his solo transatlantic row, his motivations and his personal challenges.
Hosted by Irish Consul General Barbara Jones and moderated by award-winning author and journalist Belinda McKeon, this talk was the first time the festival’s discussion forum found voice outside of Ireland.
