GIAF Announces New Internship Programme for Visual Arts

26 March 2018

GIAF is delighted to announce the introduction of a new initiative within the Volunteer Department: the Visual Arts Internship Programme (VAIP).

The new programme will engage 25 individuals for an intensive invigilating experience in the GIAF Festival Gallery from 12-29 July 2018. Interns will be equipped to deliver the best visitor experience possible by receiving intensive training in invigilation and tour-guiding.

Interns will participate in special discussions with Festival Gallery artist(s) and will have access to exclusive professional development seminars presented by GIAF Education Partner NUI Galway. Select interns will also assist with special craft programmes for children.

The VAIP programme will give interns the chance to network with many of Ireland’s arts and cultural workers and will provide both physical and digital completion certificates. Interns will receive all the perks available to GIAF volunteers, including tickets to selected shows and discounts on local businesses.

Through the programme, Galway International Arts Festival hopes to give budding arts administrators a rewarding experience that will allow them to make valuable contributions to the Irish cultural sector of the future.

Interested individuals may request an application or more information from Volunteer Manager Carly Zimmerman at The application deadline is 15th June 2018.
