James Wellwood’s paintings draw on photographs taken on his phone, capturing quiet, intimate moments from everyday life. Through painting, these scenes are slowed down and re-examined, allowing personal narratives to emerge.
Rooted in places of emotional significance, his work explores memory, isolation and how we experience place, both physically and psychologically.
