Galway International Arts Festival and the Róisín Dubh are delighted to announce acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice will make his Festival debut when he plays the Festival Big Top on Thursday 16 July 2015.
The announcement follows the October release of his critically acclaimed Number 1 album My Favourite Faded Fantasy.
My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first collection of new material in eight years. Led by new single I Don’t Want To Change You the album follows the seminal O (The Blower’s Daughter, Cannonball) which gained Rice legions of fans, selling two million copies worldwide and spending 80 weeks on the UK chart.
Debuting in the UK Top 10 Album Chart, My Favourite Faded Fantasy was supported by an acclaimed sold-out show at London’s Palladium this year, described by The Guardian in a five-star live review as ‘A truly staggering evening.’
The new album has received rave reviews internationally with The Sunday Times describing it as ‘An instant classic of extraordinary beauty and vulnerability’, while Time Out gave it a 5-Star review and Rolling Stone gave it its Album of the Month.
‘The most influential singer-songwriter of this century...utterly gorgeous.’
