Nicola Gunwhy was born in Liverpool. Alongside her own development as an artist, she trained as a Clinical Psychologist, completing her Doctorate on children’s experiences of illness.
In this exhibition of photography and installation, she draws upon her personal and professional experience of chronic health conditions, to examine the intersection between arts and health.
Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust [GUHAT]
Working with the Galway University Hospitals community, Galway University Hospitals Arts Trust provides a high quality arts programme to enhance the wellbeing and hospital experience for everyone. Through diverse means of creative engagement, it aims to encourage dialogue, promote environmental improvements, and support the development of individual creative potential. Initiated in 2003 with the generous loan of modern Irish art, including works by Louis le Brocquy and Alice Maher, the Arts Trust has developed a programme of participatory arts workshops with professional visual artists and creative writers, a visiting exhibition programme, and regular music recitals and events. It annually partners with Galway International Arts Festival, Tulca Festival of Visual Art and Cúirt International Festival of Literature to create high quality arts experiences for the benefit of a wide audience.
