Brian Bourke

Polyptych

Renowned for his landscapes and his series of mocking self-portraits comparing himself to Don Quixote, Brian Bourke is one of Ireland's most celebrated visual artists. In a career spanning over 40 years, his output has been enormous. He studied at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and at St.Martin's School of Art in London and held his first solo exhibition in Dublin in 1964.

In Polyptych the artist examine bodies of his work from his career much of which has not been exhibited together or previously, alongside a large number of new works housed in the beautiful new Fairgreen Festival Gallery. His works display a great affinity and sympathy for his subject matter, and above all, a wonderful sense of humour.

Brian also exhibits a series of new drawings in his show Master Drawings in the elegant rooms of the Norman Villa Gallery, Salthill.
