First Thought Talk with John Gerrard

John Gerrard is one of Ireland’s most unique and internationally celebrated artists best known for his large-scale and site-specific works.

Galway International Arts Festival's First Thought Talk with John Gerrard coincided with the Festival's London tour of Enda Walsh's Rooms. The Talk took place at The Embassy of Ireland, Great Britain as part of a special reception hosted by Ambassador of Ireland, Adrian O’Neill, to welcome GIAF to London.

GIAF's Artistic Director, Paul Fahy, joined Gerrard in conversation to discuss his work, and his exciting collaboration with GIAF for Galway 2020, Mirror Pavilion, which takes place from April-October, 2020 in Galway city and county. Their conversation was broadcast live from the embassy on the GIAF Facebook page.

Gerrard's work has been installed in high profile urban spaces and geographically isolated locations from the Lincoln Center Plaza in New York and Somerset House in London to the Coachella Valley Desert in California. Gerrard has featured at the prestigious Venice Biennale while the world-renowned Museum of Modern Art [MOMA] in New York features his work in their collection.
