Catherine Corless gained notoriety for her painstaking research into the staggering number of infant deaths in the Tuam and Bessborough Mother and Baby Homes.
This research ultimately led to the establishment of the Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation, the work of which is ongoing.
