Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival's (GIAF) production, Arlington, the Enda Walsh play, has caught the attention of New York critics. Currently on tour in the US, running at St Ann's Warehouse, Arlington has also featured in Vogue this week (May 16). Vogue writer Robert Sullivan also discusses the GIAF and Enda Walsh production, Rooms, which is also currently touring New York.

Enda Walsh's Arlington in Vogue

In the American Vogue article dated 16 May 2017, on Enda Walsh's Arlington, Robert Sullivan writes:

"It is a beautiful play, in, I’ll nonetheless admit, a dystopian kind of way. - on Arlington

At some point in Walsh’s play, it strikes you that we as 21st-century citizens have more in common with the man in the room who is observing than with Isla, that we are watching lives rather than living them, desperate for what’s on the other side of the wall—for life, if life is even still there. - on Arlington

"Like Arlington, the city itself (New York), like all cities, is a performance, as much about what we say as how we move and how we feel. We build our cities like theaters, good or bad. We dress for the show, we make our scheduled appearances, and we feel that we are part of something, something that has happened, something to come. Unless we don’t feel we are part of something, in which case, it’s not a matter of a dystopian future, as much as a meaningless present, a disconnected life." - on Arlington

Vogue on GIAF and Enda Walsh's Rooms

Tony Award-winning playwright Enda Walsh's hit installation 'Rooms', which is also currently on tour in New York, offers a powerful sensory experience. Located at Cybert Tires in NY, the future home of the Irish Arts Center, Rooms is a series of three installations which tell the story of three people - a young girl, an old man and a woman- creating an intimate, moving and extraordinary experience for the audience.

"In this New York production, Rooms is haunting in the way that the space it is performed in is connected to the neighborhood, and to New York itself—a connection that requires a story to explain." - on Rooms
