How to Apply for Galway International Arts Festival’s Elevate Bursary

GIAF's new commissioning/bursary strand for Irish artists is open for applications 7-28 May 2021

Galway International Arts Festival is delighted to announce that Elevate, the Festival’s new commissioning/bursary strand, is now accepting applications. Elevate will support up to four Irish artists working across any artform as they create and present original, contemporary and captivating ideas to engage both live and digital audiences.

Short new works supported by the bursary will be broadcast across GIAF’s digital platforms and/or be presented to a live audience during this year’s Festival (28 August-18 September).

Commissioned artists will receive a maximum bursary of €5,000 in support of their projects.

Who Should Apply to Elevate?

Artists working in any artform may apply. Through Elevate, Galway International Arts Festival hopes to foster new and innovative projects across all genres including performance, music, visual arts, podcasts and video.

Elevate aims to feature new projects from artists with backgrounds that reflect and represent the diversity of contemporary Ireland.

How to Apply to Elevate

Applicants should compile the following information in one Word or PDF document:

  • A summary of your proposal [max 500 words]

  • A budget in support of your proposed project

  • A list of all those involved with brief biogs [150 words] and links to no more than three previous projects

Email all required materials to submissions@giaf.ie with ELEVATE written in the subject line. Submissions close Friday 28 May.
