Hell Bent

One of Britain's best-known artists David Mach, who has undertaken a number of high profile public art commissions in the UK, exhibits one of his unique public sculptures, Hell Bent, at the plaza by the entrance to the new Galway City Museum.

Hell Bent consists of an enormous figure based on the body of the sculptor, whose mouth fires flames up to 20 feet in the air, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

While multiple mass-produced objects, most notably magazine, newspapers and car tyres, have been used consistently by March throughout his career, here he brings together a more traditional fusion of fibreglass and steel. Exciting, amusing and spectacular Hell Bent retains the elements of humour and social comment that are so apparent in his other works.
