Summer Series

Contempo String Quartet and Galway Arts Festival come together to present this series of concerts with special guests from Ireland, The Netherlands, Japan and the UK. Founded in Romania in 1995, ConTempo hav been Galway's Ensemble-in-Ressidence-since 2003.

CONCERT 1

ConTempo and De Jongen Driest - Wednesday 18 July 2007

ConTempo String Quartet joins the Dutch brass trio De Jongens Driest. Together they play the trio's original compositions, influences by Klezmer and Balkan traditions, African highlife and Latin. Hard to define, but one thing is sure - it swings and grooves!

ConTempo and guest James Lisney, piano (UK) ConTempo are joined by their good friend, UK pianist James Lisney, who has achieved distinction worldwide, both for his solo work and collaboration with major artists.

ConTempo with guests Dermot Dunne, accordian (Ireland) and Jane O'Leary, piano (Ireland) Dunne is a highly versatile accordian player skilled in everything from Baroque and contemporary classical to Argentinian music. One of Ireland's finest contemporary composers, O'Leary is Artistic Director and pianist of the contemporary music ensemble Concorde .
