Chen Zimbalista's repertoire moves from the sublime melodies of Bach to the rhythmically, hard-driving Ney Rosauro Concerto for Marimba & Orchestra to the much renowned Black Angels by George Crumb. The winner of several international competitions, Zimbalista has performed at the Kennedy Center with the Detroit Symphony, the Israel Philharmonic, and the Symphonica Brazilera, to name just a few.
ConTempo String Quartet has been the Galway Ensemble in Residence since 2003 and is at the heart of the newly re-branded Galway Music Residency. In recent years they recorded the music for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' TV drama Band of Brothers and also released two of their own CDs: ConTempo Live and Spectator Junction. They made their Carnegie Hall debut in collaboration with the Contemporary Music Centre in 2008.
