Afrocubism

Better late than never. In 1996, World Circuit Records conceived a unique encounter in Havana between Mali and Cuba's best musicians, but the Africans never made it. The recording went ahead without them and the result was the epoch-defining Buena Vista Social Club.

Fourteen years later, this 13-piece all-star cast of musicians including African superstar Toumani Diabaté and Buena Vista hero Eliades Ochoa finally got together and recorded. Released last year the album has universally lived up to the high expectations and now this world-class group of musicians comes together for one of the most exciting gigs of the summer. Afrocubism bridges the continents with music that flows, and playing that sparkles in a truly steller affair.
