Galway International Arts Festival 40th Anniversary
World pemiere theatre, major art exhibitions and a stellar music line-up make Galway International Arts Festival 2017 an unmissable 40th anniversary.
Festival 2017 40th Anniversary Line-up
Acts already confirmed include a major exhibition of sculpture by Brazilian artist Ana Maria Pacheco, titled ‘Dark Night of the Soul’; a new Festival commission by Irish artist John Gerrard (co-commissioned with the Thomas Dane Gallery, London), and one of the hottest singer/songwriters of the year, Gavin James, who will headline the Absolut Big Top.
This year, GIAF presents two world premiere theatre productions; an inspiring First Thought programme; spectacular European Street Theatre, and a series of major concerts, live at the Absolut Big Top. With 2017 marking such an important milestone for the Festival, we will also have some special announcements to make regarding this year’s programme.
Galway International Arts Festival Touring 2017
Of course, Galway International Arts Festival is much more than an annual two-week festival; we are a major cultural organization, which also develops and produces new work that tours nationally and internationally. As such, we will also be touring to New York with Arlington, while Ballyturk and Arlington will open the 2017 season in the Abbey.
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing more exciting acts. Sign up to our Newsletter and be the first to hear about them.
