Award-winning Second Violinist is First Ever Opera for GIAF

Award-Winning Second Violinist Opera

Recently winning the prestigious Fedora - Generali Prize for Opera 2017, The Second Violinist’s run at GIAF will mark the first ever opera for the Festival.

After the runaway success of their first opera, The Last Hotel, Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh work their magic again on this highly-anticipated new production. Making its world premiere at GIAF, the Landmark Productions and Wide Open Opera’s production will include a chorus of 16 and an orchestra of 14.

The Second Violinist's Leading Cast

The Second Violinist is played by Aaron Monaghan, one of Ireland’s leading actors. He is joined by singers Máire Flavin, Sharon Carty and Benedict Nelson, along with the Chorus of Wide Open Opera, and Crash Ensemble.
